What is Grief Companioning and is it for you?
The ancient Celts had a word—anamchara, meaning ‘soul-friend’. It was used to describe ‘one who walks with you’ through every season of life offering wisdom, support, encouragement, and guidance.
As an ordained interspiritual minister and grief companion I am here to accompany and support you.
Grief is a lifelong journey of love and loss. It doesn't fit some neat timeline or follow set stages from beginning through to completion. Grief is a messy, heartbreaking, and often lonely journey.
Despite what we have been told and taught, grief is not something we get over. It is a lifelong companion that we somehow learn to live with.
No matter how long you have been on your grief journey, it helps to have someone walking alongside you.
This is where grief companioning comes in!
Everyone's grief journey is as unique as their relationship with the person they are grieving. As someone who has experienced traumatic grief and loss, I understand the complexities and messiness of grief. My role as a companion is to hold a sacred, safe space for you as you process your emotions and you learn to live with and carry your grief.
We can meet in person or virtually. Sessions are generally 1 hour in length and usually take place monthly but can be more frequent if needed. As a grief companion I am guided by your needs and am there to support you as you journey on this path.
